Um ein möglichst diffuses, nicht ortbares Klangfeld erzeugen zu können, arbeiten sie im Dipolbetrieb: Jeweils ein 130 mm großer Tiefmitteltöner und eine 25 mm-Gewebekalotte pro Seite strahlen gegeneinander verpolt den Schall nach vorne und nach hinten ab, was die direkt in Richtung Publikum abgegebenen Schallanteile auf ein Minimum reduziert. Dadurch wähnt sich der Zuschauer – wie er es aus dem Kinosaal kennt – in einem räumlich rundum völlig offenen Klangbild.

Eine patentierte Dipolschaltung sorgt zudem auch in den Effektkanälen für einen linearen Übertragungsbereich ab 80 Hz. Somit haben Sie bei digitalen Tonformaten eine optimale Anpassung an den Subwoofer.

Sollten Sie einen Direktstrahler im Rear-Bereich bevorzugen – kein Problem. Der M 220 D lässt sich mittels Umschalter in einen solchen verwandeln. Ein im Gehäuseboden integriertes Gewinde erleichtert die Anbringung eines zusätzlichen Halters für optimale Wandplatzierung.

Outstanding spatiality can be achieved in the sound field using the M 220 D surround speakers for the rear effect channels.

To ensure that the sound field remains as diffuse and non-directional as possible, this speaker operates as a dipole. Here, one 130 mm woofer and one 25 mm fabric dome tweeter are installed on each side and radiate sound forwards and backwards in opposite directions to each other. Hence, direct sound is kept at a minimum. This provides listeners with the impression of being fully immersed in a three-dimensional soundscape as if they were sitting in a cinema.

The patented dipole circuitry provides linear frequency response for the effect channels from 80 Hz upwards. This allows the woofer to be optimised for digital sound formats.

And should you prefer having direct sound radiate from the rear channels, this is not a problem. The M 220 D is equipped with a switch for changing between these operating modes. By fastening an additionally available bracket to the thread at the bottom of the cabinet, you can mount this speaker to a wall.
